Our Elite National teams offer players from across the U.S. the opportunity to play baseball and showcase their talents at the nation’s leading tournaments, including Perfect Game (Atlanta), PBR (Atlanta), The AZ Fall Classic (Phoenix), and the Music City Invitational (Nashville).Each team is made up of players from different states across the nation and they play a national-level schedule, gaining development and exposure among the nation’s top prospects and colleges.
Elite’s National teams are coached by our expert college coaches and former professional players, as well as founders Matt Werts and Matt Knox.Matt Werts and Jonathan Grosse work one on one with players and their families to form an individualized recruitment plan that is suited to each player’s athletic ability, academic background, and personal preferences regarding the location and size of the school, etc. Matt and Jon utilize their vast network of college and professional connections to ensure their athletes are connected and play in front of as many schools as possible.
Matt is the co-founder of Elite Baseball with nearly two decades of experience as a coach and instructor. Matt specializes in pitching instruction and coaches the Elite Baseball Showcase Teams. Matt also leads the Elite Baseball College Placement Services Program and has helped placed 315 players in college programs since 2007.
Matt is the co-founder of Elite Baseball. After a successful collegiate career at Millersville, Matt was drafted by the Cleveland Indians. He completed his professional career in 2006 and has been involved in developing, coaching and mentoring young ballplayers for more than a decade. Matt coaches the Elite Showcase Teams and specializes in hitting instruction.
Jonathan is one of the founders of Elite National with nearly two decades of experience as a college coach and instructor. Jonathan spent 10 years as a college coach, 7 of which were at the Division 1 level. Jonathan is the Director of the Elite National Teams and coaches and oversees all age groups.
Cody is a former University of Arizona standout who earned 1st Team All-Pac-12 and College World Series honors in 2016 while leading the nation in triples. Drafted by the Los Angeles Angels that same year, his professional playing career included a Pioneer League Championship and All-Star honors. After retiring in 2018, Cody served as Arizona’s Director of Player Development before joining Calabasas High School as the Associate Head Coach in 2021, where he helped secure a 2023 D2 Regional State Championship.
Shea Sbranti serves as the General Manager and Coach for the West Coast program with Elite National Baseball, bringing a strong background in collegiate coaching, scouting, and player development. Prior to joining Elite National, Sbranti was the Arizona Scouting Director for Prep Baseball Report, where he led high school scouting operations across the state, evaluated top prospects, organized showcase events, and worked closely with college coaches and professional scouts to help players gain exposure at the next level.
Patrick Smith oversees Elite Baseball's Texas region and brings over 15 years of collegiate coaching and recruiting experience to the organization. He is currently an Assistant Baseball Coach at Frederick Community College and previously coached at Shepherd University and Mount Aloysius College, where he helped develop numerous All-Conference, All-Region, and professional players. As a former All-Conference pitcher at Shepherd University, Patrick understands firsthand the path to playing at the next level, and is passionate about helping student-athletes maximize their development, gain meaningful exposure, and find the best collegiate fit for their academic and athletic goals.

Brett Harker is a veteran baseball coach and former professional player who serves as the head baseball coach at Limestone University. A former All-American standout and MLB draft pick, his career includes four years leading the NCAA Division I program at Furman University alongside extensive experience coaching at both the collegiate and high school levels.
